Philosophy
At Mann Middle School, we believe that all students deserve opportunities to grow and be challenged. The GT program supports students who demonstrate exceptional abilities or potential by offering differentiated instruction and experiences that extend beyond the regular classroom curriculum.
Students are identified for GT services through a combination of:
- Classroom performance and teacher recommendations
-
Standardized test scores and district criteria
-
Parent/guardian input and observation
-
Our goal is to identify potential as well as demonstrated achievement, ensuring equity and access for all students.
Overview of GT
The primary focus of the Gifted and Talented program at Mann Middle School is on working with the individual student in a nurturing, holistic manner. Students are seen as individuals who are in the process of developing not only academically but socially. The focus of the class is to have students understand how they process information because of the unique manner a Gifted and Talented student processes information. The curriculum at Mann Middle School engages in furthering Logical and Critical Thinking skills through the 21st Century Standards and Goals developed by the State of Colorado.
